Looking through my vintage Playboys recovered amazing advertising from the 1960s. The one above is for athlete’s foot. (Can you believe it?)

What I want to know is, how do you get that much shag in one shot?

On the other side of the Desenex ad, is one for Dickies–slacks seen in all the going places. Yeah, Uh-huh. Right. (Don’t make me go there!)

I love the side copy however. “In Rome or Roanoke,” which is like saying “In Italy or Virginia.” (Don’t tell me picking Virginia was an accident!) I’m sure Campus Tigers everywhere are already in the know.

    That one has so many things wrong!
    Is that a bulge in the front of the pants…and what is the tiger tail wrapped around the girl suppose to mean?

    Ha! Not only the tail wrapped around the girl, but did you notice how close the Desenex woman’s foot is to her crotch?! (Athlete’s foot can contribute to Jock Itch!)

    Why aren’t there any happenin’ slack scenes around me? Huh?

    I know, right? All kinds of ridic! And yet I feel this advertising is so much better, even in it’s cheeky-ness, than so much stuff that’s out there now. Advertising now, is just noise in mags. Before, it partly gave magazines their worth. Again, so ridic!
